Responsibilities Conduct thorough client assessments using diagnostic tools such as DSM-5 criteria and ICD coding standards to determine substance use severity and co-occurring disorders. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating evidence-based practices like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, and applied behavior analysis (ABA). Facilitate individual, group, and family counseling sessions focused on addiction recovery, mental health stabilization, and relapse prevention. Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to enhance client engagement, promote behavioral change, and foster motivation for ongoing recovery efforts. Manage crisis interventions effectively by responding promptly to clients experiencing acute distress or emergencies related to substance use or mental health crises. Maintain accurate clinical documentation adhering to HIPAA regulations, medical documentation standards, and electronic health records (EHR/EHR) management protocols. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, medical professionals, and community resources to coordinate comprehensive care plans. Conduct intake assessments, monitor progress through regular client evaluations, and adjust treatment strategies as needed based on clinical data collection and patient feedback. Skills Extensive knowledge of psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, and trauma-informed approaches like PTSD Care. Proficiency in motivational interviewing techniques to support client engagement and sustained recovery. Strong background in child & family counseling, case management, and working with diverse cultural backgrounds. Experience with crisis management, crisis intervention strategies, and working effectively under pressure in hospital or community settings. Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and compliance with HIPAA standards for maintaining patient confidentiality. Ability to perform comprehensive client assessments in therapy settings for individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Skilled in utilizing EMR/EHR systems for documentation, data collection, and progress tracking within clinical workflows. Knowledge of addiction medicine principles along with experience in mental health counseling for diverse populations experiencing behavioral health challenges. Competence in conducting research-based interventions such as evidence-based practice models tailored to addiction counseling needs.
