A Substance Abuse Counselor counsels people struggling with addictions to alcohol, drugs or other substances. Assists clients in dealing with personal and professional problems related to substance abuse. Duties:
  • Conduct diagnostic evaluations to assess clients' needs and determine appropriate treatment plans
  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions to clients struggling with addiction
  • Develop personalized treatment plans based on clients' specific needs and goals
  • Implement evidence-based behavioral therapies to address addiction and related issues
  • Utilize crisis intervention techniques to provide immediate support to clients in distress
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care for clients
  • Monitor and evaluate clients' progress throughout the treatment process
  • Provide education and support to clients' families to promote understanding and involvement in the recovery process
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of client interactions and treatment plans
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field
  • Valid state licensure or certification as an Addiction Counselor ( CDCA )
  • Knowledge of addiction counseling techniques and evidence-based practices
  • Strong understanding of behavioral therapy principles and interventions
  • Experience conducting diagnostic evaluations and developing treatment plans
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines
