Substance Abuse Licensed Counselor

Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing support and guidance to individuals struggling with substance use disorders. This role requires a deep understanding of addiction, mental health counseling, and crisis management to facilitate recovery and promote overall well-being. The Substance Abuse Counselor will work closely with clients to develop personalized treatment plans and conduct both individual and group therapy sessions. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients to identify their needs and develop tailored treatment plans. Provide individual counseling sessions utilizing techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy and addiction counseling. Facilitate group therapy sessions to encourage peer support and shared experiences among clients. Implement crisis management strategies to assist clients in high-stress situations. Maintain accurate records of client progress, treatment plans, and outcomes in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate care for clients, including referrals to additional services as needed. Engage in ongoing research to stay informed about best practices in addiction medicine and mental health counseling. Offer home community care support when necessary, ensuring clients receive comprehensive assistance in their recovery journey. Qualifications A degree in psychology, social work, or a related field is required; relevant certifications in substance abuse counseling are preferred. Proven experience in mental health counseling, crisis management, and addiction medicine. Strong knowledge of cognitive behavioral therapy techniques and group therapy facilitation. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining client confidentiality. Excellent communication skills with the ability to empathize and connect with clients from diverse backgrounds. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment while also being self-motivated.
