No County Clinton Street Address Central New York Psychiatric Center - Clinton Satellite Unit 1156 Rt. 374 City Clinton State NY Zip Code 12929 Duties Description Central New York Psychiatric Center is currently recruiting for a Rehabilitation Counselor 1 to provide rehabilitative services to individuals with mental illness. As a Rehabilitation Counselor 1, you will provide a full range of rehabilitative/habilitative services, including:
  • Assessing individuals' rehabilitative needs
  • Assisting in creating treatment plans for rehabilitation services
  • Monitoring and documenting progress toward established goals and objectives Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program as Rehabilitation Counselor 1 if they have:
  • Bachelor's degree in a human service field and
  • 2 years of professional experience providing vocational, psychosocial, or rehabilitative/habilitative services in an agency primarily serving individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities, mental illness, or addictions.

Substitution:
Master's degree in a related field can substitute for one year of specialized experience. OR Candidates from outside and within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on the current Rehabilitation Counselor 1 eligible list. OR Candidates from within State Service can be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. OR In accordance with Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law, this notice advises all employees of the Office of Mental Health of our intention to conduct a non-competitive promotion examination for the position of Rehabilitation Counselor 1 at Central New York Psychiatric Center. Permanent appointment may be made by non-competitive promotion of an applicant who meets the position's minimum qualifications if all requirements of non-competitive promotion are met. The promotion field for the Rehabilitation Counselor 1 position consists of candidates who have 1 year of permanent service as a Rehabilitation Assistant 2. This position is at Central New York Psychiatric Center's Clinton Satellite Unit located on the grounds of Clinton Correctional Facility in Clinton County.
