The mission of the SC Commission for the Blind (SCCB), established in 1966, is to provide quality individualized vocational rehabilitation services, independent living services, and prevention-of-blindness services to South Carolinians who are blind or have low vision leading to competitive employment and social and economic independence. This position coordinates all aspects of service delivery for SCCB's Deaf-Blind consumers. This is a statewide position. This position also works to conduct outreach and build partnerships to increase the capacity of the agency to serve Deaf/blind individuals.

Duties include:

Performs all tasks of the Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor; referral development, application, eligibility determination, service plan development and service delivery coordination to ensure consumers are successfully placed into competitive and integrated employment. Develops community relationships, partnerships, and resources targeted to meet the vocational rehabilitation needs of Deaf-Blind individuals. Develops and maintains sources for referrals, conducts outreach to increase the awareness of available VR services. Actively serve as the state liaison with the Helen Keller National Center and other state and local advocacy groups. Interacts with school district staff and educators to facilitate the provision of Pre-Employment, Youth Services and Transition Services, and Vocational Rehabilitation Services for Deaf-Blind individuals. Other duties as assigned. A bachelor's degree and professional experience in human services or social services programs.

Agency requirement:

A Master's Degree in a human-services related field. Can communicate using American sign language. Vocational Rehabilitation Experience working with Deaf-Blind consumers seeking employment.
