Job Overview The Crisis and Assessment Program (CAP) Awake Overnight Staff plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, supervision, and well-being of youth during overnight hours. This position requires the staff member to remain awake and alert throughout the shift, providing continuous supervision and conducting routine, documented bed checks to confirm each youth's presence and safety. Awake overnight staff monitor the environment for potential risks, respond promptly to crises or medical concerns, support youth who experience difficulty sleeping or emotional distress, and maintain a calm, secure setting. They accurately document overnight observations and incidents and communicate pertinent information to incoming staff to ensure continuity of care, while adhering to all CAP policies, licensing standards, and confidentiality requirements. Working hours for this position are Sunday-Thursday 11pm-7am. Responsibilities Be a Christ-focused role model for youth in care and other team members. Ensure safety and wellbeing of the youth being served. Remain awake at all times, ready to handle all problems, incidents, illness, etc. Complete Basic Living Skills Grid. Conduct 30-minute bed checks while youth are sleep Monitor for any changes in sleeping patterns, behavior, etc. and reporting them on the nightly bed/safety log Wake youth and monitor morning routine, e.g. hygiene, grooming, straightening bedroom, etc. in preparation for school/days events. Prepare &/or assist youth in preparing morning meal. Ensure transition information is passed to next team member at the end of shift. Keep the living area clean and assist with the chores assigned to youth. Follow all rules and regulations set forth by King's Home behavior management program. Utilize the King's Home trauma informed approach when interacting with youth. Exhibit sensitivity to the youths cultural and socioeconomic characteristics. Adhere to all Department of Human Resources (DHR) and Council on Accreditation (COA) standards. Ensure all Medicaid documentation is documented in compliance with Medicaid guidelines and turned in according to King's Home schedule. Maintain strict confidentiality of all King's Home youths information and King's Home business practices with any person not employed by King's Home or not employed at your specific work site. Cooperate with and resolve staff or job-related conflicts and grievances according to policy and through the application of Biblical principles for resolving conflict. Failure to interact courteously and tactfully with Directors, Co-Workers, Clients and Outside Sources to the point that integrity or morale suffers may be grounds for termination. Implement behavioral management interventions such as time out, seclusions and restraints as warranted. Complete any other responsibilities or duties as assigned Qualifications High School Diploma/GED required. Must be able to utilize behavior management techniques of physical escorts and restraints when warranted Working knowledge of computers, Microsoft Office Word, and\, spreadsheets. Valid Alabama Driver's License and a clear motor vehicle record. The ability to be insurable by the Ministry's risk management insurance, as driving is an essential function of this job. Satisfactory criminal background check. Satisfactory drug and TB tests; free from any infectious disease. Must satisfactorily complete The King's Home Orientation and Training. Must be certified in CPR, First Aid, Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI). (Can be completed during orientation and training). Conduct yourself both on and off campus in an ethical and moral fashion that exemplifies King's Home mission and faith statements. Must be able to perform essential functions and responsibilities of job description. Complete 40 hours of training annually.
