Role:

Life Skills Mentors are Behavioral Health Paraprofessionals and Behavioral Health Technicians who provide real time care and supervision to children in one-on-one and group settings. Working out of Four Directions' outpatient treatment center, Life Skills Mentors work with youth and young adult clients to teach and model essential life skills and pro-social behaviors while providing an important support to their families. As the Life Skills Mentor some of your job duties would include: Safely driving a company vehicle to transport clients Interacting with client guardians, gathering important information and relaying feedback from client involvement Conducting comprehensive One-to-One meetings and group life skills workshops for youth Working in collaboration with youth and/or family to develop a work plan to ensure youth is prepared for academic, personal and career success Creating action steps and providing personalized navigation to services needed for the client's success Documenting and maintaining youth participant records, in a confidential and timely manner, following agency procedures Preparing and submit data for weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports Participating in planning, implementation for all youth programming Meeting regularly with a behavioral health professional to review client progress and develop staff skills and knowledge

Important Schedule Requirements:

Our Life Skills Mentors play a key role in the lives of our clients. The position is focused on after school and weekend service provision for youth and has a majority of scheduled activity on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Weekends are required. The ideal candidate can learn quickly and can prioritize effectively They will be able to quickly build rapport with a variety of client personalities They will be organized and demonstrate a strong attention to detail Be proficient using a computer to document information, create reports and records Possess excellent customer service skills Be proficient in working with youth in group and 1:1 settings Ability to work in collaboration with youth, their family and other Four Directions' team members to ensure safety, engagement and positive client experience while attending Four Directions' programs.

Minimum Qualifications & Job Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent Must be 21 years of age or older (to meet driving requirements) 3-year clean driving record Ability to obtain Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card for working with children Ability to pass DCS Central Registry Clearance Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR Certification Participate in pre-employment background check Negative TB test required Preferred Qualifications Experience in youth development/youth services with proven ability to engage and motivate youth preferred Knowledge of homelessness, substance abuse, mental illness and domestic violence as these areas relate to youth and their families preferred Experience in case management or duties in administering long term, ongoing support and linking to other services preferred Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas, findings, and recommendations effectively with staff, customers, and affiliated providers Knowledge of the social, educational, cultural, and economic development and needs of urban indigenous peoples Health & Safety Four Directions follows a strict protocol for infection prevention and control at all of our facilities and when doing our work in the community.
