FLORIDA RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS
This position requires that you MUST have lived in Florida for the last 5 years.
WHAT SKILLS & EXPERIENCE ARE REQUIRED
The Residential Youth Specialist is a college degree level professional position that requires the education and experience to develop and provide therapeutic group and individual education sessions with our youth ages 8-16 who have suffered from physical and emotional trauma and often has accompanied behavioral issues due to this trauma. Also, the Residential Youth Specialist will work alongside direct care behavioral staff in providing care, support and supervisor of the youth in our program.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
First line mentor and role model for youth care staff, demonstrating through actions, appropriate behaviors and social and professional interactions. Develope, provide and evaluate therapeutic group and individual education, lessons and sessions with youth in our care. Completing weekly/monthly reports to ensure compliance with DCF standards. Participating in monthly staffing's with treatment team members. Responsible for peer oversight, supervision and other related clerical and record keeping responsibilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ensure that direct care staff are utilizing and following our organizations approved procedures and therapist models of care in their interactions with the youth and help in training/guiding staff in appropriate interactions. High level of initiative and the ability to function as a team lead as well as a team member. Requires floor coverage to maintain staffing patterns as well as to coach/develop youth care staff. May require working during extreme weather events, such as hurricanes or tropical storms. .Ability to maintain professional boundaries. Responsible to ensure in accordance with established shelter and YFA policies and procedures that transportation of residents (if needed) is provided. Oversee safety coordination for the facility. All other duties as assigned by management
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree preferred or; Associates Degree and 4 years directly related experience as well as 2+ years of experience in a residential facility or High School Diploma (or equivalent); 8+ years directly related experience, 6+ of which must be in a residential setting. Will considers years of experience in lieu of degree.
Physical Requirements:
Requires a high degree of physical activity including the ability to run; jump; bend; and stand for significant time periods (2+ hours); lift and carry 50+ pounds.

Driving Record:
Clean driving record over past 3 years
Background Screening:
Ability to pass a level II background screen, as well as, various other DCF required screenings
Age & Work Requirement:
Must be a minimum of 21 years of age and have 24 months of verifiable work experience/internship/work as volunteer.
