Youth and Family Ministry Director General Duties:

The incumbent oversees the planning, coordination, and supervision of activities for children and youth in attendance at Spirit Sprouts (Youth and Family Ministry) program and acts as the principal teacher for our Spirit Sprouts. The YFM Director is expected to arrive at approximately 9:30AM to prepare the space and depart after the main Sunday Service is complete, and Spirit Sprout attendees have been returned to their parents. Total time is approximately 1 hour 45 minutes. Expectations for

Spirit Sprout Attendees Experience:

1. Their safety and well-being are primary. 2. They have fun and enjoy themselves while they are here - safe in the knowledge that they are part of a loving church family. 3. They are gently introduced to Unity principles and tools for living that help them to remember that they are unique individuals, created by a loving God who is always with them. YFM Director Expectations Hold Sacred Space in the Fellowship House through prayer and meditation prior to children and youth arrival. When possible, participate in the prayer circle the ministers hold prior to each service. Prepare a summary of attendance logs for the prior month before the Board of Trustees hold their monthly meeting. Plan and Prepare curriculum for all age groups for approval by the Ministers. Spirit Sprouts program always opens and closes with simple prayer. Learn Unity teachings, principles, and tools if new to them. Model them in the community. Teach them to our Spirit Sprout attendees. Maintain current rosters of children attending - complete with names, addresses, phone numbers and emergency contacts. Keep personal work areas neat, tidy and in good order. Maintain a good inventory of supplies. Oversee the cleanup of the space, engaging the Spirit Sprouts in the clean-up process. Bring the children to the sanctuary approximately 10:50 so they may participate in our Peace song and Prayer for Protection. Take responsibility to see that all rules pertaining to the use of the Fellowship House are followed at all times, the building is empty, clean and secure when the YFM Director leaves the building on Sunday morning or following special youth education or intergenerational activities. Inform the ministers of any problems with curriculum or specific Spirit Sprout attendees. Serve as a Goodwill Ambassador of Unity Church of Independence when communicating with Youth Education Professionals in the community and throughout the Unity Movement. Comply with all policies of the church regarding the Fellowship House and YFM Department. Other duties as assigned.
