Solar Journeyman Electrician Job Description This role focuses on installing, maintaining, and repairing photovoltaic (PV) solar systems on a large-scale project in Maine. The position requires a licensed Journeyman Electrician with substantial field experience who can perform high-quality electrical and solar work while maintaining strict safety and code compliance in a fast-paced, outdoor environment. Responsibilities + Install, maintain, and repair photovoltaic (PV) solar systems, including mounting and wiring solar panels and inverters. + Test electrical connections and system performance to ensure safe and reliable operation. + Troubleshoot electrical and solar system issues and implement effective repairs in a timely manner. + Ensure all work complies with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and project specifications. + Land and bend conduit accurately for aboveground and underground installations. + Lead and perform underground electrical work, including routing, securing, and protecting conductors. + Perform electrical terminations, wire management, and mod-to-mod connections to a high standard. + Install and manage string harnesses and related solar wiring components. + Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and construction drawings to guide installations. + Perform VOC (Voltage Open Circuit) testing and other electrical tests as required. + Install and assemble racking systems for solar panel mounting. + Use power and non-powered hand tools safely and effectively for all phases of installation. + Collaborate closely with other team members to meet daily production goals and project deadlines. + Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper handling of tools and materials. + Participate in and adhere to site-specific safety procedures, including any required background checks and site access protocols. Essential Skills + Active Journeyman Electrician license in the state of Maine. + At least 6 years of work experience as a licensed electrician. + Ability to install, maintain, and repair photovoltaic (PV) solar systems. + Proficiency in landing and bending conduit for both aboveground and underground electrical work. + Experience leading underground electrical installations and terminations. + Strong skills in electrical terminations, wire management, mod-to-mod connections, and string harness installations. + Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and construction drawings. + Experience with VOC testing and other electrical testing procedures. + Solid understanding of electrical codes and safety regulations. + Ability to work effectively with power tools and non-powered hand tools. + Capability to meet daily production goals in a fast-paced environment. + Willingness and ability to complete a background check as required for site access. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with solar-specific installations, including racking systems and PV wiring. + Demonstrated strong teamwork orientation and ability to collaborate on large crews. + Consistently positive attitude and strong work ethic while performing tasks. + Comfort working in outdoor construction environments with varying weather conditions. + Ability to handle pressure, meet demanding schedules, and work extended hours when needed. + Willingness to pay any applicable licensing fees required to maintain active status. You will work primarily on uneven ground and open terrain with minimal shelter; a trailer is available for changing and staging, but candidates should arrive prepared to work in the prevailing weather each day. Portable toilets are provided on site for use during working hours. The environment is fast-paced with clear daily production goals, requiring the ability to handle pressure and maintain focus. Standard hours are 1st shift, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with Saturdays typically scheduled as overtime and Sundays reserved as a weather buffer. A 50-60 hour workweek is expected. You will regularly use power tools and non-powered hand tools, and you must adhere to all site safety and access procedures. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Franklin, ME. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55.00- $60.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
