Job Description
Camp Kippewa seeks a capable and experienced Special Diets Chef to join our Kitchen staff for Summer 2026. Located in beautiful Monmouth, Maine, Camp Kippewa is an overnight girl's summer camp. This is a wonderful opportunity to gain kitchen experience working with our head chef while enjoying the beauty of Maine! Our kitchen staff are integral members of our camp community. This position is ideal for those who love working in a team environment and are excited to bring their culinary talents to a youth-serving organization.
DATES OF EMPLOYMENT
June 2-August 24, 2026. There are additional weeks available pre- and post-camp
RESPONSIBILITIES
•Special Diets Meal Preparation:
Design and prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner tailored to various dietary restrictions for campers and staff. This position will focus on preparing meals for the members of our community that eat a special diet. This includes but is not limited to allergies deriving from eggs, gluten, dairy, and shellfish. This also includes campers and staff who are vegetarian, vegan, and/or gluten free, as well as pork-free.Kitchen Cleanliness & Cross-Contamination Prevention:
Maintain a clean kitchen area to prevent cross-contamination and ensure food safety for all dietary needs.
Menu Customization & Communication:
Work closely with the Head Chef to discuss menu options and coordinate ingredient requirements, ensuring and planning accordingly to accommodate diverse dietary needs.COMPENSATION
Salary:
Depending on experience- Live on camp: Room & Board for duration of employment
- includes accommodation and meals
QUALIFICATION
- Experience with special diets: gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, and vegan options
- Age 21 or older
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, both personal and with staff assigned to the kitchen
- Ability to understand direction and work with camp management with minimal supervision
- Friendly and customer service oriented with leaders and staff
- Punctual and dependable.
