Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Inspire meaningful growth and provide crucial support as a Special Education Teacher in a full-time, contract position located near Andover, MN. Work with a close-knit team in an engaging, center-based classroom setting serving K-2 students with developmental cognitive disabilities and autism spectrum disorder. Desired Qualifications:
Current Minnesota Special Education Teaching License. Specialized licensure in ASD, DCD, ABS, or cross-categorical SPED is strongly favored. Experience supporting students with autism and developmental disabilities. Proficiency in writing IEPs, collecting progress data, and delivering targeted interventions. Skilled in providing consistent behavioral supports and implementing effective classroom structure. Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with related service teams and families.
Preferred Experience:
Previous work in center-based autism or DCD classrooms. Familiarity with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices. Experience with sensory regulation strategies and functional skills instruction.
Responsibilities:
Manage a high-needs elementary classroom with approximately six students. Design and execute individualized academic, behavioral, and functional support plans. Track and report student progress using thorough data collection and documentation. Develop and implement IEPs in partnership with multidisciplinary teams. Foster a positive, collaborative environment with paraprofessional support. Communicate regularly with families to promote student success and engagement.
