Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a difference every day by supporting students in a full-time Special Education teaching role within a highly supportive, center-based environment. This contract opportunity runs from August 2026 to June 2027 and focuses on guiding young learners in kindergarten through second grade who require intensive behavioral and emotional support. You'll champion a small classroom of approximately six students, providing impactful instruction, steady guidance, and leadership as part of a collaborative team. Ideal candidates are passionate about fostering growth for children with significant behavioral needs, are interested in a structured, positive learning environment, and demonstrate excellent communication and intervention skills.
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid Minnesota Special Education Teaching License required EBD licensure is highly preferred Prior experience supporting students with significant behavioral needs Competence developing and implementing IEPs and BIPs Proficiency in behavioral intervention, de-escalation, and classroom consulting Strong skills in communication, relationship building, and teamwork
Preferred:
Experience leading a K-2 center-based special education classroom Familiarity with PBIS, CPI, restorative practices, and trauma-informed instruction a plus
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction in a specialized K-2 emotional behavioral disorder setting Lead the creation, monitoring, and revision of IEPs and BIPs Implement daily interventions and individualized supports focusing on positive outcomes Work hand-in-hand with paraprofessionals, specialists, and administrators Promote a safe, nurturing, and structured classroom environment Participate in multi-disciplinary meetings and parent communication This full-time, Monday through Friday position offers meaningful work and professional engagement within a close-knit educational community.
