Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Take on a powerful and rewarding role supporting students in an alternative education environment as a Special Education Teacher specializing in Emotional Disabilities (ED) for the 2026-2027 school year. In this full-time contract position, you will have the opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of students who require a highly structured, therapeutic classroom to meet their behavioral and emotional needs.
What you bring:
Valid South Carolina Special Education certification, or eligibility to obtain it Experience working in ED, behavioral, or alternative educational environments highly valued Demonstrated strength in classroom management and crisis de-escalation Ability to remain calm, consistent, and focused on supporting students in high-need situations Collaborative spirit and commitment to working as part of a multidisciplinary team Your key responsibilities: Deliver individualized instruction based on IEP goals, making adjustments for student growth Implement and maintain behavior intervention plans and de-escalation techniques Establish a safe, structured, and therapeutic atmosphere that fosters trust and learning Promote social-emotional growth and help students develop vital coping strategies Work closely with behavioral staff, administrators, and allied support professionals Document student progress thoroughly and participate actively in IEP team meetings This position offers an opportunity to build deep relationships and inspire positive change every day.
