Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting elementary-aged students in a therapeutic school environment. This special education position focuses primarily on providing a safe, nurturing, and structured classroom while a teacher is out on medical leave, with the potential for an extended role depending on circumstances. Your classroom will have a low student-to-staff ratio: just three students, all elementary age, with the steady support of a dedicated paraprofessional in the class.
Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Valid Special Education teaching certification (or ability to qualify for certification) Prior experience with elementary-aged children preferred Compassionate, patient approach to therapeutic education settings Adaptability and strong communication skills Ability to begin coverage August 3rd and commit to 40 hours per week Comfortable in environments where the focus is more therapeutic than strictly academic
Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized support to three elementary students, working collaboratively with a paraeducator Foster a positive, structured, and therapeutic classroom atmosphere Adapt approaches and interventions to student needs, emphasizing emotional regulation and self-growth Communicate regularly with school staff and families regarding student progress and needs Assist in maintaining documentation and complying with all special education requirements
