Job Description:
Moravia Community School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Strategist 1 Special Education Teacher to join our collaborative team. This is an anticipated position based on projected student rosters and may be assigned to upper elementary, middle school, or a split elementary/middle school position, depending on applicant interest and final roster assignments. The successful candidate will provide specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs, helping them reach their full academic and social-emotional potential.
Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized and small-group instruction aligned with students' IEP goals and district curriculum. Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to design and implement effective interventions. Collect and analyze data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly. Participate in IEP meetings, provide input on accommodations, and ensure compliance with federal and state special education laws. Support positive behavior interventions and social-emotional learning strategies. Maintain accurate records, progress reports, and communication with families.
Qualifications:
Valid teaching certification in Special Education or valid teaching license and willing to go back to school to get Special Ed. endorsement. Experience working with students with disabilities, preferably in an elementary or middle school setting. Strong knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and best practices in special education. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
