Position Title Special Education Teacher for Elementary Grades Required Application Type Teacher / Admin Job Description

RONDOUT VALLEY CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT
is seeking a Special Education Teacher for elementary grades to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing quality education to students with possible physical, cognitive, and/or emotional disabilities in a secondary school setting. The candidate will work closely with students, parents, and other education professionals to create and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) that meet the unique needs of each student.
Qualifications:
NYS Certification Special Education for elementary grades (SWD 1-6, SWD B-2) NYSed Fingerprint Clearance Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educational professionals Adaptability and willingness to learn new teaching methods Compassionate and patient with students and families Able to work with students from different backgrounds and who have varying abilities Experience working in Special Education at the elementary level is preferred.
Salary:
Per Contract
General Responsibilities:
Although the specific day-to-day duties of special education teachers can vary based on where they work and their students' ages, common daily duties include the following: Assess students' diverse skills and educational needs while utilizing various teaching strategies and techniques to meet those needs Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance/progress, attendance, and behavior Developing, modifying, and updating IEPs Communicate regularly with parents, administrators, and other education professionals regarding student progress and needs Attend and participate in staff meetings, professional development, and other school-related activities
Work Schedule:
M-F, 8:30am-3:40pm
