Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a lasting impact by supporting middle school students with diverse abilities in a vibrant educational setting. This contract opportunity is geared towards Special Education Teachers who are passionate about life skills instruction and ready to guide adolescents toward greater independence. In this role, you'll work with a focused caseload of 12 middle school students, dedicating your expertise and care to their development. Your commitment will span 35 hours per week, where your skills in differentiation, collaboration, and innovative teaching will make a daily difference.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Valid Special Education teaching credential (or eligibility) Previous experience working with middle school-aged students preferred Demonstrated knowledge of life skills curriculum and adaptive strategies Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with students, families, and faculty Flexibility, creativity, and a positive outlook
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement individualized lesson plans targeting life skills for students with diverse needs Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment Track student progress, adjusting instruction as needed to maximize growth Work closely with school staff and families to encourage student achievement and independence Create engaging activities that promote both social and academic development Ensure federal, state, and local compliance for all documentation and reporting
