Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Take your passion for education to the next level by making a difference as a Special Education Teacher in a supportive, collaborative environment. This contract opportunity offers openings for the 2026-2027 school year across several specialized programs near Joliet, IL. Be part of a team providing tailored instruction for students who thrive with expert, compassionate support. Openings for the upcoming academic year include: Autism Spectrum Disorder caseloads (K-3rd grade) in a communication and adaptive behavior program Social, Emotional & Behavioral Needs caseloads (K-8th grade, with greatest need in grades 6-8) in a therapeutic program Cross-Categorical caseloads (Early Childhood/Preschool) in a self-contained half-day program Your expertise will help shape positive outcomes for students in dynamic, meaningful settings. Each position is full-time, with approximately 35 hours per week, and situated at well-respected local learning centers.
Qualifications & Experience:
Valid Professional Educator License with Special Education endorsement for Illinois (or eligibility to obtain) Previous experience in special education settings—preferred, but not required Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Collaborative mindset to work with multidisciplinary teams, families, and support staff
