Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding and impactful role supporting elementary students on their educational journey as a Special Education Teacher for a full academic year. This contract opportunity runs from August 5, 2026, through May 21, 2027, at a welcoming elementary school near Larkspur, CO. In this position, you'll work closely with a small caseload of 6-8 students, providing individualized instruction to help each child reach their fullest potential.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Special Education Teaching certification, or eligibility to obtain Experience designing and implementing IEPs for elementary-aged students Strong communication skills for close collaboration with families, administrators, and multidisciplinary teams Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to fostering inclusive classroom environments Organized and capable of maintaining thorough documentation of student progress
Role Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver individualized lesson plans tailored to each student's needs and learning goals Adapt teaching strategies and learning materials to support academic, social, and behavioral growth Foster a safe, supportive, and motivating classroom culture Monitor progress, assess needs, and modify educational plans as appropriate Engage with families and colleagues to ensure consistent support and facilitate student success Comply with all policy, legal, and reporting requirements for special education In this full-time role, you'll truly make a difference—nurturing confidence and capability in every student you teach.
