Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a meaningful role supporting students as a Special Education Teacher for a full-time contract position near New Britain, CT. This is a unique opportunity to make an impact while covering a maternity leave in a dedicated resource room setting for grades 6-8. The assignment runs from late September through the end of December, providing essential continuity and care to students and their families during this period.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Special Education Teacher certification Prior experience with middle school-aged students preferred Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation Excellent organizational and communication skills Ability to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment
Responsibilities:
Instruct and oversee a resource room caseload of approximately 20 students in grades 6-8 Develop and adapt individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs Deliver direct instruction and support in alignment with IEP goals Progress monitor, document student achievement, and report regularly to administration and families Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, related service providers, and support staff Foster a positive, encouraging, and structured learning environment for all learners This role is entirely onsite, giving you the chance to build strong, face-to-face connections with students and colleagues.
