Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting exceptional learners in a self-contained classroom setting for grades 4-6. This role begins immediately and runs through the end of December, offering a fulfilling chance to make a daily impact in the lives of five dedicated students. As the classroom's Special Education Teacher, you will craft tailored lessons and foster an inclusive, structured environment designed for growth and confidence. Working approximately 7 hours per day, you'll help support each student's unique needs with patience, empathy, and professionalism.
Qualifications & Experience:
Valid Special Education Teacher certification (State-specific or eligible for reciprocity) Previous experience working with students in a self-contained or similar special education environment Strong collaboration skills for working with support staff and related service providers Passion for differentiated instruction and individualized education plans (IEPs) Excellent communication abilities and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs for each student based on their strengths and areas of need Create engaging lessons in a small group setting to facilitate academic and social-emotional growth Collaborate daily with paraprofessionals, therapists, and family members to support students' progress Maintain a nurturing and safe classroom atmosphere that encourages participation and celebrates student achievements Track and document student data, progress, and communication in accordance with school guidelines Adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate varying learning styles within the group This position offers a supportive and collaborative environment, giving you the opportunity to truly connect with students and families while honoring your commitment to education.
