Job Description

DESCRIPTION
General Function:
The practice of speech-language pathology includes providing screening, identification, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, intervention (i.e., prevention restoration, amelioration, compensation) and follow up services for disorders of:
Speech:
articulation, fluency, voice (including respiration, phonation, and resonance). Language (involving the parameters of phonology, morphology, syntax, sematics, and pragmatics; and including disorders of receptive and expressive communication in oral, written, graphic, and manual modalities). Oral, pharyngeal, cervical esophageal, and related function (e.g., dysphagia including disorders of swallowing and oral function for feeding; orofacial myofunctional disorders). Cognitive aspects of communication (including communication disability and other functional disabilities associated with cognitive impairment). Social aspects of communication (including challenging behavior, ineffective social skills, lack of communication opportunities). Including children of all ages (newborn, infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric).
II. POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Educational Requirements:
1. Graduation from an accredited Speech-Language Pathology Program. 2. Masters degree and the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) or in the process of completing the Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).
Experience Requirements:
Experience with Videofluroscopic evaluations preferred.
Special Requirements:
1. License to practice Speech-language Pathology in the State of Louisiana 2.

Working conditions:
In hospital areas
