Where You'll Work Founded in 1967, Dignity Health - Mercy San Juan Medical Center is a 377-bed, acute care, nonprofit hospital located in Carmichael, California. Serving over 100,000 patients annually, the hospital offers a full complement of services including a Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, heart care, cancer care, women's health, and neurology. One California Job Summary and Responsibilities As a Stationary Engineer, you will be a central figure responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of our facility's critical mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring continuous functionality for all building occupants. You will play a vital role in maintaining a stable and comfortable environment while optimizing energy and system reliability.

Every day, you will expertly monitor, operate, and troubleshoot complex HVAC, refrigeration, boiler, and power generation systems, performing meticulous preventive maintenance and repairs. You will also maintain precise logs, respond promptly to alarms and emergencies, and collaborate with other facilities personnel to ensure all infrastructure operates at peak efficiency.

To be successful in this role, you will combine a valid Stationary Engineer license, extensive experience in operating and maintaining large-scale building systems, and a profound understanding of MEP principles. You will demonstrate exceptional diagnostic and problem-solving skills, meticulous attention to safety, and thrive in a dynamic, hands-on environment dedicated to ensuring uninterrupted facility operations. Ensures the proper operation and maintenance of buildings, grounds, equipment, distribution lines for steam, hot water, plumbing, electricity refrigeration, sanitation for hospital and Medical Office buildings. Responds rapidly to emergency situations, including fire, and disruptions of above stated utilities. May access medication storage areas in accordance with their job function and hospital policy. FLSA Exempt Status. Accurately takes readings and makes mechanical round checks within allocated time frame. Reports any discrepancles immediately to supervisor. Completes preventative maintenance work orders per standard indicated on work order. Operate and maintain electrical power distribution under normal or emergency conditions. Operate and maintain water distribution systems and respond appropriately to emergency conditions. Respond appropriately to the disruption of specific communication system failures. Fire Alarm; Nurse Call; Code Blue, Overhead Paging; etc Maintain Medical Gas systems and respond appropriately to any disruptions. Job Requirements Required 4 years (with 2 years in a hospital setting). Applicants with less than 2 years ofhospital experience may be consideredwhen staffing permits.
