Job Description

Job Overview Join our vibrant summer camp team as a Sports Counselor (basketball, softball, and volleyball) dedicated to inspiring children through engaging athletic activities and fostering a positive, inclusive environment. In this role, you will lead sports and recreational games, promote teamwork, and ensure the safety and enjoyment of all campers. Your enthusiasm and leadership will help create memorable summer experiences that encourage physical activity, personal growth, and fun! This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to combine your passion for sports, childcare, and education in a dynamic camp setting. Responsibilities Lead and facilitate a variety of sports, games, and physical activities tailored to different age groups and skill levels Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and positive behavior among campers through active engagement and encouragement Ensure the safety of all participants by monitoring activities closely and adhering to safety protocols Manage group dynamics with effective behavior management strategies to maintain a respectful and inclusive environment Assist with setting up equipment, organizing game schedules, and maintaining activity areas Communicate regularly with camp staff about camper progress or concerns related to behavior or safety Participate in camp-wide events and activities Skills Strong background in sports coaching, physical education, or recreational activities with experience working with children Excellent classroom management skills to oversee large groups of children effectively Ability to teach new skills clearly while encouraging participation and confidence Familiarity with childhood development principles to support age-appropriate activities Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members, campers, and parents when necessary This position is ideal for energetic individuals passionate about sports, childcare, education, or youth development.
