Immediately Job Description Position Summary The First Grade Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction aligned to district standards and ensuring all students learn at high levels. This position requires a commitment to student achievement, collaboration, and maintaining a safe, structured, and engaging classroom environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Plan, deliver, and assess instruction aligned with district curriculum and Washington State standards. Provide differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students, including those who are at-risk or require additional support. Use a variety of assessment tools and data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly. Maintain clear, accurate, and timely records of student performance. Establish and maintain a classroom environment that is safe, respectful, and focused on learning. Implement effective classroom management practices that support student engagement and behavior expectations. Work collaboratively with grade-level teams, specialists, and support staff to improve student outcomes. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, concerns, and successes. Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), staff meetings, and required professional development. Support school and district initiatives, including curriculum implementation and improvement efforts. Integrate technology as a tool to enhance instruction and student learning. Maintain professionalism in all interactions with students, staff, and families. Follow all district policies and state and federal laws related to education and student supervision. Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance. Qualifications Valid Washington State teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement(s), or ability to obtain upon hire. Experience working with elementary students preferred. Knowledge of elementary instructional practices and child development. Ability to use assessment data to drive instruction and improve student outcomes. Strong collaboration and communication skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Familiarity with Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) preferred. Experience integrating technology into instruction preferred. Physical Requirements Occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds. Ability to carry, push, and pull materials. Some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling. Frequent standing, walking, and sitting. Ability to effectively communicate and perform tasks requiring fine motor skills.
