Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a difference as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired through a contract role for the 2026-2027 school year. This is an onsite position serving students near Belding, MI, offering a unique opportunity to provide individualized instruction and support to learners with visual impairments. The selected educator will collaborate closely with school staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams to promote student access to the curriculum, encourage independence, and help drive educational success in alignment with students' IEP goals.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Demonstrated experience teaching students with visual impairments Valid teaching certification or licensure for special education in visual impairments Skilled at collaborating with a range of stakeholders, including families and specialized staff Familiarity with IEP development and implementation for students with unique needs Strong communication, organization, and advocacy skills
Core Responsibilities:
Provide direct specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments Adapt curriculum materials and teaching strategies to a variety of learning styles and disability levels Consult with general and special education teams to promote student success and ensure access Contribute to the development and progress monitoring of IEPs, attending meetings as needed Serve as a resource for staff and families, providing training on assistive technology and instructional modifications Foster a supportive, accessible, and equitable learning environment Experience the fulfillment of guiding students toward greater independence and educational achievement.
