Job Description
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Empower students with hearing challenges to thrive academically and socially in a supportive learning environment. In this contract position, you'll provide specialized instruction for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to create inclusive classrooms and individualized education plans.
Key Qualifications:
Valid certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education or eligibility for endorsement Demonstrated experience teaching or supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods commonly used with this population Strong understanding of assistive technology and adaptive strategies Excellent communication and advocacy skills when working with students, families, and staff Ability to assess student progress and modify instruction accordingly Previous experience in a school setting is highly valuedPrimary Responsibilities:
Deliver direct instruction and support to students from diverse backgrounds with hearing loss Adapt curriculum and materials to meet the needs of individual learners Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and interpreters to facilitate seamless integration Participate actively in IEP meetings, assessment, and goal-setting Provide consultation and training to school personnel on deaf education best practices Monitor and report on student performance and engagement regularly Foster an inclusive, accessible classroom culture, celebrating student strengths Step into a rewarding opportunity where your expertise changes lives.
