Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role where your expertise as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing will make a genuine impact on the educational journey of a high school student. This full-time contract opportunity runs for the full 2026-2027 school year, working weekdays from 7:45 AM to 2:45 PM Central Time. You'll work closely with one student in an in-person setting, building meaningful connections and offering individualized support.
Requirements:
Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing Previous experience with high school-aged learners preferred Strong skills in American Sign Language (ASL) and alternative communication methods A dedication to fostering inclusion, independence, and student growth Ability to design and implement IEPs, adapting curriculum to meet unique learning needs Collaborative mindset for connecting with general education staff and related service providers
What You'll Do:
Provide direct instruction and support to one deaf or hard of hearing high school student Develop and deliver lesson plans tailored to individual goals and communication needs Evaluate student progress and adjust instructional strategies to ensure academic success Advise, support, and collaborate with other educators to promote an inclusive learning environment Utilize assistive technology and visual aids as appropriate Engage with families to strengthen the student's home and school connection This opportunity is ideal for educators seeking to form a meaningful one-on-one relationship, support student achievement, and enhance communication access within school settings.
