Job Description Auto-Owners Insurance, a top-rated insurance carrier, is seeking a motivated individual to join our Actuarial Division as an actuarial (ratemaking) intern. The position, which is an in-person internship, requires the person to: Become familiar with using and understanding insurance manuals and principles. Evaluate frequency, severity, and premium trends for purposes of projecting future losses based on historical loss data. Effectively communicate with other employees through verbal and/or written means. Organize and provide management with reports to aid in decision making. Participate in both formal and informal training sessions. This summer internship is in person in Lansing, Michigan and has full-time hours (Monday
  • Friday for 37.5 hours/week). Schedule start times can vary, as working hours should overlap that of your mentor's as best as possible. Two of the most common shifts are 8am
  • 4:30pm or 7:30am
  • 4pm.
Interns choose their start and end dates. Most join in mid-May and most stay until mid-August. Desired Skills & Experience Students must be working toward a bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Predictive Analytics, or a related field and have completed at least two years of the curriculum.
