Job Description

Ameritas is seeking an Actuarial Intern to drive the business by supporting the actuarial functions and staff by performing actuarial analyses and calculations, preparing reports, and participating in actuarial projects. The actuarial intern may support the following departments: Individual Product, Group, Corporate Actuarial. At Ameritas, our mission is Fulfilling Life. This internship will begin May 2027. This is a hybrid role working partially in-office and partially from remote in Lincoln, NE during the summer, with the potential to continue supporting the team during the academic year, depending on business needs and academic commitments.
What you do:
Gather and prepare data for analysis Participate in programming, preparation, and interpretation of actuarial reports Participate in projects Develop new ideas and processes that improve the departments' performance Comply with proper internal controls as necessary to conduct job functions and/or carry out responsibilities and/or administrative activities What you bring: Actively pursuing a four-year degree in actuarial science Completed or enrolled in Interest Theory (or equivalent) OR earned credit for one actuarial exam Familiarity with Excel and/or programming languages such as SQL, Python, R, and VBA Experience with coding is preferred, but not required Strong mathematical skills Starting with the second (sophomore) school year, a student must take at least one actuarial exam each academic year Strong written and oral communication skills What we offer Our company motto is "Fulfilling Life" and we take that job seriously, with a heavy commitment to volunteering and community support, employee well-being, and providing quality products and services that help our customers create a brighter future Being a mutual-based organization, the return on our investment goes back into the company, to benefit our members/customers We're committed to professional development, opportunity, inclusion, and diversity.
