Job Description

Role Overview As a Wire EDM Machinist, you will utilize Mastercam to program, configure, and run Mitsubishi and Sodick equipment. This role demands a high level of technical proficiency, meticulous attention to detail, and a deep understanding of machining principles to effectively shape metal components. Programming in Mastercam Demonstrate full expertise in programming and parameter definition to manufacture high-precision components with tolerances between ±0.0002 and ±0.001. Program Selection and Setup Analyze and interpret complex technical blueprints and specifications. Configure and calibrate machine settings to achieve peak operational performance. Select the appropriate wire electrodes for hole popper and Wire EDM fixtures. Operation and Monitoring Operate Wire EDM machinery to manufacture parts that strictly adhere to design specifications. Oversee the EDM machining cycle to ensure consistent quality and precision. Proactively identify and resolve operational challenges to maintain workflow efficiency. Inspection and Quality Control Conduct precise measurements and thorough quality assessments on finished parts. Validate dimensions, alignments, and clearances using specialized measuring tools. Ensure all components meet established tolerance levels and quality benchmarks to support team success. Maintenance and Safety Maintain machinery and equipment to ensure a safe and highly efficient production environment. Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements. Help maintain a clean and organized workspace to improve overall shop floor safety. Additional Responsibilities Collaborate effectively with engineers, toolmakers, and other staff members. Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to drive process excellence. Provide necessary support for various other machining processes as required. Professional Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent. Five to ten years of robust experience in setting up and operating Wire EDM machines. Proven ability to execute work based on complex drawings with tight tolerances. Experience managing low-volume, high-mix production environments. Proficiency in interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Demonstrated experience using various gages and precision measuring equipment. Must possess personal tools, such as calipers, micrometers, and depth micrometers. Organizational Structure This position reports directly to the Operations Supervisor while maintaining collaborative relationships with the engineering, operations, and Admin-CSR departments. You will interact with personnel across various levels of the organization. Physical Requirements The role involves working in a standard manufacturing setting with typical lighting and temperature conditions. You will be expected to use required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses with side shields, and potentially hearing protection depending on the environment. The work requires the ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods on level surfaces. You may need to reach above your head or below your waist, and you must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, as well as pushing or pulling up to 150 pounds, while consistently utilizing proper lifting techniques.
