This role blends hands-on installation with system programming, focusing on smart home and commercial automation platforms — with a strong preference for candidates experienced in Control4 programming. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge across A/V, networking, and automation systems, the ability to write and deploy control programming, and the confidence to work independently in the field. This position offers opportunities for professional growth in a dynamic environment focused on delivering high-quality automation and audiovisual solutions. Responsibilities Program, configure, and commission Control4 systems using Composer Pro, including drivers, scenes, scheduling, and user interfaces Install, configure, and troubleshoot audio, video, control, and network equipment in residential and commercial settings Build and maintain project files, device drivers, and system documentation for each installation Configure and troubleshoot networking equipment including managed switches, routers, VLANs, and wireless access points Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to accurately install cabling and hardware Perform maintenance, firmware updates, and repairs on AV and control systems to ensure optimal performance Conduct field service visits to diagnose issues on-site or remotely, providing timely solutions Manage low voltage wiring, cabling, and terminations according to industry and safety standards Train clients on system operation and deliver a polished handoff experience Assist with system upgrades, software troubleshooting, and hardware replacements as needed Ensure all installations comply with electrical codes and safety regulations Document service activities, system configurations, programming changes, and maintenance records accurately Skills and Qualifications Control4 programming experience strongly preferred; Control4 certification a plus Working knowledge of Composer Pro, driver integration, and remote system management tools such as OvrC or Control4 Connect Strong understanding of A/V, networking, and automation systems Experience with additional platforms (Savant, Crestron, URC, Lutron, RTI) is a plus Familiarity with lighting control, motorized shades, distributed audio, and video distribution Networking proficiency: IP addressing, VLANs, port configuration, and troubleshooting Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals effectively Proficiency with hand tools, mounting hardware, rack building, and cable management Experience with software troubleshooting related to AV equipment and computer hardware integration Field service experience working independently at various client locations Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on troubleshooting complex AV and control issues Valid driver's license and clean driving record Professional appearance and strong client-facing communication skills This role is ideal for individuals passionate about technology who enjoy both building systems and making them work seamlessly for clients.
