Our projects support customers across the Oil & Gas, Energy, Water, Manufacturing, and Industrial markets. We are seeking an experienced Automation Programmer / Specialist to join our growing Automation team. This position will be responsible for developing, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and supporting industrial automation and control systems from initial project development through startup and ongoing customer support. The successful candidate will be a hands-on problem solver who can work independently while collaborating closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, Field Operations, HSE, Supply Chain, and our customers. Key Responsibilities Develop, modify, test, and troubleshoot PLC, RTU, SCADA, HMI, and control system applications. Program and support Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation PLC and HMI platforms. Develop and maintain PLC logic, HMI applications, SCADA systems, communications, alarms, interlocks, and control strategies. Work with industrial communication networks and protocols including Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/RTU, serial communications, and other control system networks. Develop and review I/O lists, I/O maps, instrument indexes, control narratives, cause & effect matrices, and functional descriptions . Develop automation solutions based on project specifications, customer standards, P&IDs, electrical drawings, instrument data, and process requirements. Standardize and adapt PLC, HMI, and SCADA code in accordance with Nyati standards and customer-specific requirements. Participate in design reviews and assist Engineering with control system architecture and hardware selection. Configure and troubleshoot PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, SCADA systems, instrumentation, VFDs, communication equipment, and associated control hardware. Perform factory testing, FAT activities, field installation support, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting. Perform loop checks, point-to-point checks, functional testing, and control system validation. Troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation, controls, networking, and software issues in the field. Tune and optimize PID loops and control strategies to improve system performance, reliability, throughput, and quality. Troubleshoot industrial communication networks and Windows-based control systems. Interface with process engineers, electrical engineers, instrumentation personnel, customers, vendors, and field personnel to resolve technical issues. Provide technical support during project execution and after commissioning. Travel to customer facilities as required for installation, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and service. Maintain project documentation, programming backups, test records, and commissioning documentation. Communicate project status, technical issues, schedule impacts, and required resources to Project Management and Engineering. Assist with material and equipment selection and procurement as required. Follow all Nyati safety, quality, documentation, and project execution procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications 3+ years of hands-on industrial automation and controls experience , or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs and industrial control systems . • Experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation or Siemens SIMATIC platforms strongly preferred. Experience with PLC programming, HMI/SCADA development, industrial networking, RTUs, instrumentation, and control systems. Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, control drawings, and instrumentation documentation . Understanding of industrial communication networks and protocols. Strong electrical, instrumentation, controls, and troubleshooting fundamentals. Ability to troubleshoot problems independently and develop practical solutions in both shop and field environments. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with engineers, technicians, project managers, customers, vendors, and field personnel. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced project environment. Valid driver's license. Willingness to travel approximately 75% , depending on project requirements. Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and on-call schedules when required by project or commissioning activities. The position may require working outdoors, climbing stairs/ladders, wearing required PPE, and working extended hours during startup and commissioning.
