Hi-Tek Solutions is looking for a part-time Computer Repair Technician to join our team in Downey. We're looking for someone who already has real hands-on computer repair experience but still wants to learn and grow. You don't need to know everything. What matters to us is that you have a good technical foundation, are dependable, communicate well, follow procedures, and take pride in doing things correctly. This is an in person position at our repair shop . It is not remote. What You'll Be Doing Diagnose Windows desktops and laptops Perform hardware and software repairs Troubleshoot Windows problems, drivers, hardware failures, upgrades, and performance issues Assist with basic Apple/Mac diagnostics and repairs Perform quality-control testing before devices are returned to clients Accurately document diagnostics, repairs, testing, and device status Assist clients during computer drop-off and pickup Provide clear and professional repair updates by email Answer occasional phone calls and assist with normal shop operations Keep your work area and client devices organized Occasionally pick up or deliver computers and equipment for our local business clients Assist with basic networking and IT projects as your skills develop Participate in AI training modules and learn how modern AI tools can be used in a professional IT environment Help test and adapt new AI tools for office automation, troubleshooting, documentation, and internal workflows Learn how AI solutions can be applied to help our residential and business clients Represent Hi-Tek Solutions professionally when interacting with residential and business clients What We Require At least 1 year of hands on computer repair experience Good working knowledge of Windows computers Basic knowledge of Apple/Mac computers Ability to diagnose problems instead of simply replacing parts or guessing Good communication and customer service skills Ability to write clear repair notes and basic professional emails Strong attention to detail Ability to follow company procedures and checklists Dependable attendance and punctuality Professional attitude and appropriate boundaries with clients Respect for client privacy and confidential information Willingness to learn, ask questions, and accept feedback Interest in learning new technology, including AI-based tools Valid driver's license and a reliable, insured vehicle Comfortable occasionally driving locally to pick up or deliver client equipment Ability to safely lift and carry up to 40 lbs as needed, such as desktop PCs, monitors, or other equipment. Assistance will be available when needed for heavier or awkward items. A reliable vehicle is required for this position. Big Plus, But Not Required Basic networking knowledge Ability to make and test Ethernet/network cables Experience with routers, switches, Wi-Fi, or basic network troubleshooting Previous computer repair shop or IT support experience Experience using ticketing or repair-management systems Experience using AI tools for productivity, troubleshooting, automation, coding, or documentation If you can properly make and test a network cable, definitely let us know. Skills Assessment Candidates moving forward in the hiring process will complete a basic hands-on technical assessment. This is not designed to trick anyone or require advanced IT knowledge. We simply want to see how you approach troubleshooting, what you already know, how you document your work, and where additional training may be needed. Basic Windows repair knowledge and basic Apple knowledge will be tested. Training, AI & Career Growth Technology is changing quickly, and we want our technicians to grow with it. Using AI to assist with technical troubleshooting and research Improving repair documentation and internal workflows Learning how AI can help automate repetitive office tasks Testing new AI tools and determining where they can safely improve productivity Helping develop and improve internal automation systems Learning how AI tools can be applied to support our business clients Understanding when AI is useful and when traditional troubleshooting and human judgment are still required As new tools become available, we plan to continue testing and adapting them into our shop and IT services. Our technicians work with real residential and business clients, Windows PCs, Apple computers, networking equipment, custom-built PCs, automation tools, and a variety of everyday technology problems. We are also continuing to expand how we use AI and automation inside our own business and for our clients, giving our technicians exposure to newer technologies in addition to traditional computer repair. For someone who genuinely enjoys technology and wants to build a career in computer repair and IT, this position offers an opportunity to gain experience well beyond basic retail tech support.
Pay:
$17.00 - $19.00 per hour Application Question(s): Do you have a valid driver's license, a reliable insured vehicle? A Windows PC powers on and displays normally, but randomly freezes after 10-20 minutes. Walk us through the first three things YOU would personally check, in order, and explain why. There is no single perfect answer. We are interested in your troubleshooting process, and we may ask you to demonstrate it during the interview.
