Description MATT Construction, the General Contractor that built such iconic structures as The Broad Museum and Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, is seeking a Helpdesk Technician 1 to join our team. About the Helpdesk Technician Role The Helpdesk Technician 1 will provide first-level technical support to our employees, ensuring efficient operation and utilization of IT systems. This role involves troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues, as well as assisting with IT asset management and user training. The ideal candidate will have a strong customer service orientation and an understanding of IT systems and networks. This role is based in our Santa Fe Springs office Monday through Friday with visits to construction sites as needed. IT Operations & Service Delivery - Ensures reliable, responsive IT support across office and jobsite environments, including field connectivity and mobility. Provides timely, professional first-level IT support via phone, email, ticketing system, and in-person interactions Troubleshoots hardware, software, printing, mobile device, and basic networking issues (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) Escalates complex issues appropriately with clear documentation and context Supports onboarding/offboarding including device setup, account provisioning, and access validation Maintains excellent customer service, communication, and responsiveness in office and job-site environments in accordance to SLA's. Supports field users and construction personnel with mobility and connectivity challenges (VPN, Wi-Fi, remote access) Infrastructure & Systems - Designs and supports IT infrastructure and construction platforms (Procore, CMiC, Autodesk) critical to project execution. Installs, configures, and maintains Windows PCs, mobile devices (iOS), printers, and peripherals Supports Microsoft 365 applications, email, collaboration, and file access Assists with software installation, updates, and version control Provides basic support for construction platforms such as Procore and CMiC user access and troubleshooting Cybersecurity - Protects systems and sites, networks, and company data through security controls and risk management. Adheres to IT security policies including password management and secure access practices Identifies and escalates suspicious activity, phishing attempts, or vulnerabilities Assists with endpoint protection, updates, and basic security configurations Educates users on cybersecurity best practices and safe behavior Remediate any user account breaches immediately. Business Alignment - Aligns IT strategy with construction and company objectives, driving innovation, efficiency, and organizational performance. Communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical users Assists in user training and onboarding for systems and applications Collaborates effectively with IT team members and other departments Demonstrates ownership, accountability, and reliability in completing tasks
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree preferred, but experience will be considered in lieu of education. 2 to 5 years of experience in a helpdesk or technical support role, preferably in the construction or a related industry. Knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and common business software applications. Knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and basic troubleshooting techniques. Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Ability to work in a construction environment, including occasional visits to job sites, which may involve exposure to dust, noise, and varying weather conditions.
