Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking an IT Technician for a contract opportunity supporting secure election operations in Fort Lauderdale, FL. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical support professional who enjoys troubleshooting hardware and software, preparing equipment for operational use, and supporting mission-critical technology in a fast-paced public sector environment. The IT Technician will work closely with operations and technical teams to help ensure systems, devices, and data-related processes are ready, accurate, secure, and reliable throughout the election cycle. This is a great opportunity to contribute to meaningful public service work while gaining valuable experience in a structured, high-visibility operational setting with supportive leadership, teamwork, and clear procedures. Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support for election-related hardware, software, systems, and end-user devices.
  • Assist with setup, configuration, testing, deployment, relocation, and readiness checks of IT equipment and peripherals.
  • Troubleshoot basic technical issues, document resolutions, and escalate concerns to supervisory staff when needed.
  • Support data entry, data verification, system setup, and data management activities with a high level of accuracy.
  • Follow established procedures for system access, equipment handling, confidentiality, data security, and chain-of-custody requirements.
  • Support operations staff with technology-related needs during assigned shifts, including high-volume election cycle periods. Compensation and Benefits
  • Pay rate: $22 per hour.
  • Job type: Contract/temporary.
  • Estimated assignment duration: Approximately 6 months, through mid-November.
  • Location:
    Fort Lauderdale, FL.
  • Schedule may include extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required during the election cycle. Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Provide desktop support for hardware, software, peripherals, and end-user technology.
  • Assist with IT equipment setup, configuration, testing, deployment, and operational readiness.
  • Support data entry, data verification, and system-related administrative tasks.
  • Document technical issues, troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and support activities.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3 to 5 years of related IT support, desktop support, technical support, or equipment support experience preferred based on role level.
  • Basic knowledge of computer systems, hardware, software applications, and peripheral equipment.
  • Ability to perform basic troubleshooting for end-user systems and devices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal technical instructions, established procedures, and security requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy while handling technical and data-related tasks.
  • Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced operational environment with deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work professionally with supervisors, coworkers, and operations staff.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, perform repetitive motions, and lift, carry, or move equipment up to 35 pounds. Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience providing technical support in an office, warehouse, public sector, or operational environment.
  • Experience with computer hardware setup, troubleshooting, maintenance, and relocation.
  • Experience supporting data entry, database systems, or system setup activities.
  • Familiarity with network-connected devices, printers, peripherals, and related equipment.
  • Prior experience working in a secure, deadline-driven, or compliance-focused environment.
