Temporary Duties and Responsibilities 1.- Continuously monitor and lead initiatives to enhance system reliability, security, and operational efficiency. Supervise and mentor IT staff to assure that administrative directives and industry best practices are understood and followed. 2.
- Administer and maintain Hawaii Sea Grant's public-facing and internal websites, including content management systems (CMS), hosting environments, and accessibility compliance. 3.
- Coordinate web development, updates, and security patches in collaboration with communications and outreach staff. 4.
- Ensure websites meet UH branding standards, federal accessibility requirements (e.g., Section 508), and cybersecurity best practices. 5. Support development and maintenance of microsites, portals, and digital tools for research programs, extension activities, and community engagement initiatives. 6.
- Design, manage, and maintain relational and non-relational databases supporting research, extension, education, reporting, and grants management. 7.
- Develop and oversee data workflows, metadata standards, backup protocols, and data integrity checks. 8.
- Support data integration across programs (e.g., project tracking, outcomes reporting, stakeholder engagement, and evaluation metrics). 9.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and security requirements, including federal and UH data policies. 10.
- Manage cloud-based services and platforms (e.g., storage, virtual servers, collaboration tools, analytics platforms). 11.
- Optimize cloud resources for performance, security, cost efficiency, and scalability. 12. Support migration of legacy systems to cloud environments where appropriate. 13.
- Coordinate identity management, access controls, and permissions for cloud applications. 14.
- Implement and monitor cybersecurity best practices, including authentication, encryption, backups, and incident response procedures. 15.
- Coordinate with UH Information Security and System-wide IT to ensure compliance with institutional and federal requirements. 16.
- Conduct routine risk assessments and vulnerability reviews for IT systems and web platforms. 17. Provide guidance and training to staff on secure computing practices. 18.
- Serve as the primary IT advisor to program leadership on digital infrastructure needs, emerging technologies, and long-term IT planning. 19.
- Support grant proposals and funded projects by developing IT, data management, and cyberinfrastructure components. 20. Collaborate with research, extension, education, and communications teams to design digital solutions that enhance program effectiveness and impact. 21. Develop and maintain IT documentation, standard operating procedures, and user guides. 22.
- Liaise with UH campus IT units, system-wide services, and external vendors. 23.
- Manage IT service contracts, licenses, and subscriptions. 24.
- Follows and implements directives and guidance related to best practices from University of Hawai'i System Information Technology Services. 25.
- Ensures the consistent adoption, implementation, and enforcement of recommendations issued through University of Hawai'i System Information Technology Service. 26.
- Keeps abreast of recommendations issued through University of Hawai'i System Information Technology Service, and takes timely action as needed. 27. Coordinate consultants or developers for specialized IT or web projects as needed. 28. Other duties as assigned.
