IT Infrastructure & Security Systems TechnicianPosition Overview We are seeking a hands-on IT Infrastructure & Security Systems Technician to manage and support the technology infrastructure, networking, physical security systems, and connected devices throughout our office. This position combines network administration, employee IT support, low-voltage cabling, access control, surveillance systems, hardware installation, and smart-office technology. The ideal candidate is comfortable working both behind a computer and hands-on in the building. This person should be able to troubleshoot complex network issues, configure switches and VLANs, install access control hardware, run Ethernet cable, manage cameras, and assist employees with everyday technology issues. other connected devices Configure static IPs, DHCP reservations, routing tables, port settings, and network policies Diagnose network issues using tools and methods such as ping, VPN access, SSH, logs, topology analysis, and local connectivity testing Configure protections such as STP/RSTP, loop protection, storm control, and other network safeguards Perform firmware, controller, gateway, and network infrastructure upgrades Monitor network stability and identify devices or infrastructure causing disruptions Install, configure, relocate, and troubleshoot wireless access points Document switches, ports, network devices, cabling, and infrastructure layouts Maintain organized network closets, racks, cabling, and equipment UniFi & Network Infrastructure Manage and support UniFi Network, Protect, Access, and related applications Configure and maintain UniFi Dream Machine, switches, access points, Enterprise Access Hubs, and other UniFi hardware Migrate network devices, controllers, cameras, and access systems between platforms or hardware when needed Install and configure network video storage and surveillance infrastructure Configure ONVIF, RTSP, authentication credentials, and camera integrations Support guest wireless networks and troubleshoot router or SSID issues Configure secure network segmentation for physical security and IoT devices Access Control & Physical Security Install and maintain electronic access control and security systems Install card readers, video readers, door position sensors, motion sensors, access hubs, electric strikes, magnetic locks, and related equipment Run power and network cabling for access control equipment Configure door controllers, access readers, locks, push-to-exit devices, and sensors Troubleshoot communication issues between access controllers and network infrastructure Test and verify that locks, readers, sensors, cameras, and exit devices are functioning properly Assist employees with mobile credentials, key fobs, and building access Maintain and troubleshoot surveillance camera systems Support upgrades and migrations of existing security systems Cabling & Hardware Installation Run, terminate, test, trace, and label Ethernet and low-voltage cabling Install switches, access points, cameras, readers, hubs, sensors, and related hardware Trace existing cables between network closets, switches, outlets, and connected devices Cut and patch small openings when required for infrastructure installations Maintain clean and organized cable routing and equipment installations Identify failing hardware and recommend repair or replacement Employee IT Support Provide technical support to employees for desktops, laptops, printers, monitors, Wi-Fi, and peripherals Troubleshoot computer performance and connectivity issues Configure and reinstall printers and office equipment Diagnose local device configuration issues Assist employees with network access and connected office technology Reimage, configure, or update devices when necessary Smart Office & AV Systems Install, configure, and troubleshoot connected office technology Support Philips Hue lighting, hubs, smart outlets, and connected lighting systems Support Sonos speakers and audio systems Configure dedicated networks or VLANs for AV and IoT equipment Troubleshoot automated shades and other network-connected building technology Install or replace connected lighting and smart devices as needed Systems Documentation & Project Support Maintain accurate documentation of network infrastructure, ports, devices, IP assignments, and system configurations Create and update network diagrams, equipment inventories, and infrastructure tracking spreadsheets Document installations and configurations to simplify future maintenance Coordinate technology and infrastructure projects with management Research and recommend solutions for recurring technical issues Plan installations and upgrades to minimize disruption to employees Provide after-hours support for network upgrades or installations when necessary Qualifications Strong hands-on experience with business network infrastructure Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, routing, switching, and wireless networking Experience troubleshooting network loops, multicast issues, routing problems, and IP conflicts Familiarity with STP/RSTP, storm control, loop protection, and network segmentation Experience configuring managed switches and enterprise wireless access points Experience with UniFi Network, Protect, and Access strongly preferred Experience with surveillance cameras and physical access control systems Experience installing card readers, electric strikes, maglocks, sensors, and access control equipment Experience running and terminating Ethernet and low-voltage cabling Ability to troubleshoot network infrastructure through SSH, VPN, logs, and diagnostic tools Experience supporting Windows computers, printers, monitors, and office peripherals Comfortable using hand tools and performing physical hardware installations Strong troubleshooting and independent problem-solving skills Ability to accurately document infrastructure and technical configurations Strong communication skills and ability to assist nontechnical employees Preferred Experience similar IoT systems Schedule & Work Environment This is a primarily on-site, hands-on position because much of the work involves physical network infrastructure, access control systems, cabling, security equipment, and employee support. Some network upgrades, system migrations, and infrastructure projects may need to be completed outside normal business hours to avoid disrupting office operations. The ideal candidate is available, proactive, resourceful, organized, and comfortable independently owning both immediate troubleshooting needs and longer-term infrastructure projects.
