Job Description

The IT Business Operations Specialist works as a member of the Louisiana State University in Shreveport (LSUS) Information Technology Services department and is responsible for maintaining existing IT purchasing agreements, coordinating with vendors, assisting with the establishment of new IT purchasing agreements and contracts, overseeing IT budgets and accounts, and serving as the liaison between IT and other Finance and Administration departments such as Accounting and Purchasing. Founded in 1967, LSUS is one of the LSU family of universities. LSUS has a strong regional presence with both a face-to-face student population and a large online student population.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Budgeting, Procurement, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

  • 2+ years of experience in Finance, Accounting, Budgeting, Procurement, or related field
  • Proficiency with office productivity tools, especially spreadsheets, including formulas, filtering, sorting, formatting, and basic data analysis.
  • Professional etiquette and appearance
  • Must be able to work collegially in a small team environment
  • Experience with supplier management
  • Experience with contract review and negotiation
  • Experience with accounting
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines, documents, and approval processes simultaneously.
  • Ability to analyze financial, purchasing, and contract data and communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Specific experience in IT procurement
  • Experience working in a higher education academic computing setting
  • Familiarity with IT systems, software licensing, cloud services, infrastructure purchasing, or enterprise technology support environments
  • Evidence of continued professional development, training, certifications, or active efforts to build skills relevant to procurement, budgeting, contracts, or IT operations
Position Duties:
  • Assisting with the sourcing and procurement of IT software, services, infrastructure, and systems.
  • Reviewing, managing, and negotiating IT purchasing agreements and contracts for submittal to LSUS Purchasing.
  • Maintaining proactive and consistent communication with the IT leadership on all matters related to IT financial affairs, procurement, and contracts.
  • Tracking and reporting on the status of the procurement process; coordinating purchases/expenses; and establishing priority and target dates for information gathering writing, review, and approval.
  • Maintain an inventory of IT vendors, contracts, renewals, licensing terms, service periods, and key points of contact to support proactive renewal planning.
  • Prepare recurring near-term and long-term reports on IT expenditures, encumbrances, upcoming renewals, budget projections, and procurement timelines.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for all communication related to purchasing agreements and contracts which involve the IT department.
  • Coordinate with various stakeholders to support timely review and approval of IT-related purchases and agreements.
  • Regularly review the IT budget and ledger accounts to ensure spending is adequately tracked, and budget overages are minimized.
