Job:

As a Senior Database Engineer at Independent Bank, you will play a key role in shaping and supporting our enterprise data environment. In this highly visible position, you will own the performance, availability, and security of our SQL Server and other enterprise-wide database platforms. You'll not only maintain and enhance existing systems, but also architect and implement new databases, optimize performance, design and build robust data pipelines, and ensure data integrity and consistency across the organization. What You Will Do:

Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of SQL Server databases, Snowflake environment, and other database platforms across the enterprise. Manage and monitor database performance, tuning, and optimization to ensure high levels of availability and security. Implement data integration and ETL processes to support data warehousing and business intelligence initiatives. Design, implement, and maintain disaster recovery and high availability solutions. Collaborate with development and operations teams to design data models and schema structures. Establish and enforce database standards, procedures, and best practices. Plan and execute regular database backups and ensure effective restore procedures. Develop and maintain database security strategies, including user roles and permissions. Conduct database capacity planning and storage management. Support the data warehouse environment, ensuring data consistency, reliability, and performance. Write and troubleshoot complex queries, stored procedures, and scripts. Conduct regular database audits and system health checks. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging database technologies and industry trends. Provide advanced support and troubleshooting for database-related issues. Mentor other team members and provide training and leadership. Perform other related duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Relevant training such as

Microsoft Certified:

Azure Database Administrator Associate, or similar, are highly desirable. 7+ years of extensive experience in database management, with a strong focus on SQL Server. 2+ years of experience with cloud data warehouse platforms, with a strong focus on Snowflake Strong expertise in database performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting. Proficiency in database backup and recovery plans and practices. Experience with data warehousing concepts, architecture, and ETL processes. Familiarity with SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS. Solid understanding of database security principles, including access controls and encryption. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. Self-motivated, with a passion for continuous learning and personal development. Experience in scripting and automation using tools like PowerShell or Python is a plus.
