Job Description
Role Overview We are seeking a part-time, highly skilled onsite IT Support Specialist. This resource will be responsible for helpdesk, onsite support, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing our laboratory technology environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of macOS/Window PC systems administration expertise and experience supporting specialized scientific equipment and laboratory IT infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Scientific & Laboratory IT Support Provide onsite technical support for a variety of laboratory equipment, including but not limited to NestSeq, QXManager, HPLCs, SpectraMax, and microscopes across Windows, Linux, and macOS platforms. Install, validate, configure, and maintain lab software, hardware, and backup systems, ensuring optimal performance and compatibility. Perform regular routine maintenance and software-level calibration of lab equipment workstations. Collaborate directly with scientists and researchers to understand their specific technical workflows and provide tailored IT solutions. Provide technical support to lab personnel, addressing their daily IT-related questions and issues to minimize downtime. Train lab personnel on the proper use and best practices of laboratory workstations. macOS & Windows Ecosystem Administration Provide technical support with Windows PC related to lab applications, including Empower, QXManager, Softmax Pro, JMP, Graphpad, etc. Provide comprehensive technical support for macOS and related applications, executing deep troubleshooting for both hardware and software issues. Install, configure, and maintain macOS systems, ensuring stringent security and optimal performance. Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls within the macOS environment. Support a range of Mac applications, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and specific scientific data analysis software. Support, configure, and manage mobile devices (iPhones, iPads) integrated into the broader Mac environment. General IT, Data, & Asset Management Troubleshoot and resolve general hardware and software issues, including computer malfunctions, network connectivity problems, and application errors. Assist in the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of data management systems used throughout the lab. Ensure data security and integrity by implementing, enforcing, and assisting users with robust data backup and recovery procedures. Assist in the development of IT asset management workflows and conduct regular system health checks. Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation of lab system configurations, troubleshooting steps, and ongoing maintenance procedures. Document accessible IT procedures, FAQs, and protocols for lab personnel. Adhere strictly to all laboratory safety protocols and procedures while performing onsite duties. #IND123
