Job Description

We are seeking a Refinery Laboratory Informatics Specialist III to manage, maintain, and optimize critical laboratory software applications and instrument connectivity. This role serves as a vital bridge between laboratory personnel, enterprise IT, and third-party software vendors to ensure high system availability, robust data integrations, and standardized operational procedures. By driving reliable software deployments, execution of change management protocols, and comprehensive technical documentation, the successful candidate will directly sustain continuous refinery testing and operational continuity.
Core Responsibilities Execute Software Deployment & Configuration:
Install, configure, and maintain specialized laboratory applications across workstations and servers while enforcing version control, licensing compliance, and system dependency verification.
Troubleshoot Instrument Connectivity:
Resolve complex software, hardware, and communication issues affecting instrument-to-computer data pathways, LIMS interfaces, and middleware solutions.
Manage Change & System Validation:
Coordinate software upgrades, patch management, and migrations; validate application functionality post-installation to minimize operational downtime and maintain disaster recovery readiness.
Develop Technical Documentation:
Author clear, repeatable deployment guides, configuration baselines, and standard operating procedures to enable consistent support and long-term sustainability across the IT organization.
Liaise Across Multidisciplinary Teams:
Serve as the primary technical resource for laboratory software platforms, collaborating closely with lab staff, system vendors, and central IT to maintain high reliability standards.
Optimize Operational Processes:
Utilize scripting tools, such as PowerShell, and IT service management platforms to automate deployment workflows and resolve support incidents efficiently. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent professional experience). Proven track record supporting specialized laboratory, scientific, or industrial software applications. Advanced proficiency in Windows LTSC operating systems, enterprise software deployment methodologies, and system administration. Demonstrated experience configuring and troubleshooting instrument-to-PC communication protocols and software data flows. Exceptional analytical capability with a track record of producing high-quality technical documentation. Preferred Qualifications Direct experience operating within refinery, manufacturing, or heavy industrial laboratory environments. Hands-on experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and chromatography data platforms (e.g., Agilent OpenLab CDS, ChemStation, EZChrom, or Dionex Chromeleon). Familiarity with formal software validation frameworks, IT change management methodologies, and disaster recovery processes. Proficiency using PowerShell for administrative automation and ServiceNow for incident and change management. #MS1
