Job Description

What You'll Do We are seeking a passionate and proven IT Asset Management Team Leader to join our team. This is an outstanding chance to guide a group of dedicated professionals managing Principal Financial Group's IT hardware and software assets. This role provides strategic oversight, people leadership, and cross‑functional partnership to ensure accurate asset tracking, compliance, and lifecycle management across the organization. Lead and develop the IT Asset Management function, providing direction, prioritization, and governance. Own the full lifecycle of IT assets ensuring accurate receipt, inventory, deployment, redeployment, and disposal. Ensure compliance with software licensing agreements and manage software entitlement and usage oversight. Partner with Finance, Legal, Security, and Risk teams to support audits, financial reconciliation, and risk mitigation. Oversee asset depreciation, inventory reconciliation, and reporting on financial usage, lifecycle, and trend data. Define requirements for asset management tooling and enforce workflow and compliance controls. Establish, maintain, and enforce asset management policies; communicate expectations across the organization. Consult on the impact of business changes (e.g., mergers, acquisitions, international expansion) on asset and licensing strategies. Drive continuous improvement and support special projects as needed. Who You Are Associate's or bachelor's degree (preference in a computer science, technology, engineering or math-related field) and 6+ years' work experience or equivalent experience Demonstrated experience in IT Asset Management or a related area Experience with leadership and vendor relations management Strong understanding of software licensing and compliance, software and hardware contracts, software deployment, and infrastructure components and topology Ability to build and implement effective asset management policies and procedures Experience with hardware and software asset management tools such as ServiceNow Hardware Asset Management or Flexera One ITAM Skills That Will Help You Stand Out Experience managing teams and cross-team collaboration Strong financial acumen including expense, capitalization, depreciation, and useful life Experience with advanced functions within Excel including pivot tables, lookups, etc Familiarity with compliance controls (e.g. SOC2) Ability to analyze large data sets and find anomalies Experience with data sanitization Salary Range Information Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Des Moines, IA:
$116,000•$156,000 / year
Charlotte, NC:
$116,000•$156,000 / year
Chicago/Minneapolis:
$127,600•$171,600 / year
Los Angeles/New York City:
$139,200•$187,200 / year Time Off Program Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don't accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided. Pension Eligible Yes Work Environments This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA or Charlotte, NC or Raleigh, NC). You'll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
