IT Field Service Technician IT-Necessity Georgetown, KY Job Details Part-time | Full-time $12 - $20 an hour 2 days ago Benefits Health insurance Qualifications Outdoor work experience Power drills Windows Ladder use Driver's License Power tools Hand tools Full Job Description Position Overview IT-Necessity is looking for an IT Field Service Technician to assist with day-to-day IT support, onsite service calls, networking, printer support, structured data cabling, and security camera installations. This position is ideal for someone who has a good basic understanding of computers and networking, enjoys working with their hands, and is comfortable working both with customers and in the field. We are not necessarily looking for someone who knows everything on day one. We are looking for someone who has a solid technical foundation, can troubleshoot problems, is willing to learn, and can grow into additional responsibilities. Primary Responsibilities Help Desk & IT Support Provide basic Level 1 help desk support to business clients. Troubleshoot Windows computers, laptops, peripherals, and common software issues. Assist users with password resets, account access, email, Microsoft 365, and basic application issues. Install and configure computers, monitors, docking stations, printers, and other office equipment. Perform basic workstation troubleshooting and replacement. Document service calls, troubleshooting steps, and completed work. Networking Perform basic network troubleshooting. Understand basic concepts including IP addresses, DHCP, DNS, switches, routers, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet. Install and replace network switches, wireless access points, and other networking equipment under direction when needed. Troubleshoot connectivity problems involving computers, printers, cameras, and other network-connected devices. Assist with network equipment installation and organization. Printer Support Install and configure local and network printers. Troubleshoot common printing, scanning, driver, connectivity, and print queue issues. Assist with basic multifunction printer and copier connectivity issues. Data Cabling Pull and install CAT5e/CAT6/CAT6a data cable. Terminate RJ45 connectors and keystone jacks. Install wall plates, patch panels, and network racks. Test and label installed cabling. Maintain clean and organized cable routing. Assist with troubleshooting damaged or improperly terminated network cabling. Work in ceilings, attics, ladders, and other normal low-voltage installation environments when required. Security Camera Installation Assist with and perform installation of IP-based security camera systems. Mount indoor and outdoor security cameras. Run and terminate network cabling for camera installations. Connect cameras to PoE network switches and recording/cloud systems. Perform basic camera positioning, focusing, and troubleshooting. Assist with NVR, network, and cloud-connected camera configurations. Troubleshoot basic camera connectivity and power issues. Qualifications The ideal candidate should have basic working knowledge or experience in several of the following areas: Windows computers and general PC troubleshooting Microsoft 365 Basic help desk support Ethernet and TCP/IP networking Network switches and wireless access points Network and USB printers CAT5e/CAT6 cabling RJ45 termination Basic hand and power tools IP security cameras PoE networking Formal certifications are helpful but not required . Maintain professionalism while working at customer locations.
Physical / Field
Requirements This position includes both computer work and physical field work.
Candidates should be able to:
Lift and carry approximately 50 pounds when necessary. Safely use ladders. Work above ceiling tiles and in other typical commercial installation environments. Use drills, cable tools, crimpers, testers, and basic hand tools. Spend portions of the workday standing, walking, climbing, or working onsite. Travel to customer locations throughout Central Kentucky. A valid driver's license and dependable transportation are required. Experience Previous IT, low-voltage, security camera, cabling, or help desk experience is preferred but not necessarily required. We are willing to train the right person who already has a basic technical foundation, demonstrates mechanical ability, and is motivated to develop their skills. $12.00 - $20.00 per hour
