Job Description
Coordinates all aspects of custom software development and implementation, internal or third party. Coordinates software upgrades and updates to Central Texas College primary ERP application. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent from and accredited college plus three years' work experience OR Associates degree in Computer Science from an accredited college with five years' work experience in a related technical position (transcripts required). Five or more years of software development experience with responsibilities similar to those listed above. The experience requirement will be reduced by two years if the candidate has completed a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent in a directly related discipline from an accredited college or university. Full understanding of the program development cycle, project implementation process and system conversion concepts. Ability to coordinate with users to determine requirements, define scope of systems, and plan timelines. Must be able to define service specifications through communication with users. Ability to effectively analyze business work flows and translate the into well-design application structures. Advanced application troubleshooting skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills area must due to extensive interaction with user population. Advanced knowledge of object-oriented programming as well as top-down programming. Familiarity with Ellucian Colleague interfaces, as well as backend components of Colleague is a plus. Strong experience in design/coding databases such as SQL, and/or UniData. Competent in design and navigation of complex database systems. Negotiate service-level agreements for customization and third-party applications. Coordinates all major software implementation projects related to the college's ERP system, to include new applications as well as significant modifications to existing systems Develops IT service specifications and evaluates potential business impacts Consults with both users and developers to define project scopes, establish milestones, and ensure timely completion of projects. Oversees software updates and upgrades, including evaluation of impact on customized code Enforces thorough testing and evaluations of all updates, upgrades, and new software installations. Serve as technical liaison in the acquisition of new software, to include evaluation of RFPs and vendor responses Participates in the development of standards for systems and programming Assist new software developer training. Troubleshoot complex errors related to ERP system Maintains documentation of all custom application development. Other duties as assigned.
