As a Test Engineer, you will collaborate with a global, cross-functional team of product development professionals to design, develop, and validate electronic locking solutions and their associated mobile, Windows, and web-based applications. This role requires a creative and innovative problem-solver who can evaluate product and system architectures while leading system integration efforts across electrical, firmware, software, and mechanical disciplines. You will play a key role in coordinating and executing technical activities throughout the entire product lifecycle, from concept through production and release. This position will report directly to the Manager, Design Test & Validation and sits onsite full-time in New Haven, CT. What you will be doing Develop, maintain, and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases for integrated hardware and software platforms. Analyze, document, and communicate test results while managing formal defect tracking and resolution processes. Lead and actively participate in technical design and program reviews. Ensure product designs and third-party deliverables meet established requirements and quality standards. Partners with product development teams define, plan, and implement test strategies, acceptance criteria, and validation procedures for both new and legacy products. Conduct data analysis and support corrective actions to ensure hardware and software acceptance tests meet customer specifications, drawings, and compliance requirements. Create project schedules and monitor testing activities to meet delivery timelines and performance objectives. Communicate project progress and test status through reports, presentations, and program review meetings. Manage activities required to obtain product certifications, including FCC, UL, CE, and other applicable regulatory standards, and develop supporting certification documentation. Perform both manual and automated testing of mobile, Windows, and web-based applications. Design and develop specialized testing tools to support validation of software platforms, mobile applications, web applications, and web services. Contribute to the design and development of test automation solutions, fixtures, and testing apparatus. What we are looking for Proven experience in electronic systems and/or firmware design, development, analysis, and testing. Hands-on experience with embedded microcontroller-based systems. Demonstrated success supporting new product development programs from concept through production. Ability to interpret and analyze schematics, engineering requirements, technical data, and test results. Experience identifying, documenting, tracking, and resolving hardware, firmware, and system-level software defects. Proficiency using electronic test equipment, including oscilloscopes, function generators, digital voltmeters (DVMs), logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers. Strong project management and organizational skills within an engineering environment. Experience leading and contributing to cross-functional project teams. Ability to collaborate effectively across product development and problem-solving initiatives. Self-motivated, innovative thinker with a strong drive for excellence and continuous improvement. Solid understanding of systems engineering principles. Working knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes. Ability to work independently while thriving in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Knowledge of RFID, Wi-Fi, Z-Wave, and/or Zigbee networking technologies preferred. Experience with mobile-to-cloud communication and connectivity protocols. Familiarity with Python, C#, Java, and testing tools such as Test Complete preferred. Experience with test automation technologies, including robotic test systems and automated test frameworks preferred. Hands-on experience with both manual and automated testing methodologies.
