Project/Unit Description The Test Engineering Division (TEN), part of the Electronic Systems Laboratory (ELSYS), specializes in applied research to advance Test and Evaluation (T&E) methodologies for Department of Defense (DoD) systems. With a core emphasis on Electronic Warfare (EW) and related technologies, TEN excels in developing sophisticated software-in-the-loop (SITL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) test systems. These systems generate a realistic and complex electromagnetic spectrum consistent with the challenges of tomorrow's battlespace that facilitate open-loop and closed-loop testing, system simulation/emulation, test automation, and comprehensive data analysis. Key research activities include T&E across the Radio Frequency (RF) and Electro-Optical/Infra-Red (EO/IR) spectrums, enabling high-fidelity testing of land, airborne, maritime, and spaceborne systems to ensure innovative solutions for diverse defense challenges. Job Purpose The Systems Engineer oversees and coordinates the work of technical teams on systems projects, ensuring the successful design, implementation, operation, and technical management of those projects. Taking a holistic approach to systems engineering, the Systems Engineer ensures that all aspects of a system project are considered and addressed. The Systems Engineer works closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and then develops and documents technical requirements that meet those needs. The Systems Engineer leads the design team in developing a system architecture that meets all of the requirements. After the system is designed, the Systems Engineer oversees the implementation of the system, working with the implementation team to ensure that it meets all of the requirements. Once the system is deployed, the Systems Engineer manages the technical aspects of the system, including monitoring performance, troubleshooting problems, and making improvements. Key Responsibilities Facilitate product or system requirements gathering and analysis with sponsors and other key stakeholders Verify systems engineering product life-cycle components to include definitions, requirements analysis, synthesis, systems analysis and implementation Conduct product or system design synthesis translating requirements into physical architectures for systems of moderate complexity to include defining and refining internal and external interfaces Develop and contribute to technical reports and diagrams detailing product or system attributes Analyze product or system functionality as defined by requirements Additional Responsibilities Conduct threat intelligence research focused on current and emerging electronic warfare, radar, and RF threat systems Develop, maintain, and refine threat models, signal profiles, and representative RF environments for testing and evaluation Configure, operate, and troubleshoot RF test equipment and simulation tools in laboratory and test environments Document test procedures, technical findings, threat assessments, and performance results Required Minimum Qualifications Familiarity with RF signal generation, capture, analysis, and/or measurement techniques 3+ years of experience in electronic warfare, RF systems, radar systems, signals intelligence, or threat engineering Preferred Qualifications Active TS/SCI Clearance Knowledge of threat intelligence research and the ability to translate intelligence data into engineering or test artifacts Familiarity with radar warning, electronic attack, electronic support, electronic protect, or countermeasure systems 5+ years of experience in electronic warfare, RF systems, radar systems, signals intelligence, or threat engineering 2+ years of experience with
