Job Description

Job Overview The Principal Architect (Infra/Cloud/Architect) for Fairview will lead the strategic planning, design, and implementation of application architecture across the organization. The position will collaborate with teams across Cloud, Infrastructure and Network & business stakeholders to ensure that application architectures align with the broader technology strategy and business goals, particularly focusing on optimizing patient care delivery systems. This role is accountable for team member leadership. Responsibilities Define and own the enterprise cloud, infrastructure, and network architecture strategy and multi‑year roadmap , ensuring alignment with the health system's long‑term business, clinical, reliability, and security objectives. Provide technical and architectural leadership across major initiatives (cloud migration, hybrid/multi‑cloud, data center modernization, network transformation, Zero Trust, DR/BCP), ensuring solutions are scalable, resilient, secure, and compliant with healthcare regulatory requirements. Lead architecture reviews and design governance for infrastructure and network solutions, establishing guardrails, reference architectures, and patterns that balance innovation, cost efficiency, and operational excellence. Partner with IT, cybersecurity, and business leadership to translate business priorities and non‑functional requirements (availability, performance, latency, data protection) into effective infrastructure and network designs. Drive adoption of architectural standards and frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, cloud reference architectures, Well‑Architected Frameworks, ITIL alignment) and embed best practices for automation, observability, and reliability engineering. Lead evaluation, selection, and standardization of cloud platforms, infrastructure technologies, and network solutions , including IaaS/PaaS, connectivity, SD‑WAN, identity, and security services. Provide hands‑on technical mentorship and strategic guidance to cloud, infrastructure, and network architects/engineers; elevate technical maturity through design reviews, coaching, and development plans. Manage and lead a team of architects , with accountability for talent strategy including recruitment, performance management, engagement, succession planning, and retention. Collaborate with vendors, systems integrators, and external partners to ensure solutions adhere to enterprise architecture standards, interoperability requirements, and healthcare compliance obligations. Stay current on emerging cloud, infrastructure, and network technologies (e.g., AI‑ready infrastructure, edge computing, SASE, Zero Trust, FinOps) to continuously improve resilience, cost governance, and operational outcomes. Required Qualifications
B.S./B.A.
in Computer Science, Information Technology, or combination of related experience/education Minimum of 10 years' experience in IT, with at least 5 years in an architectural role focusing on application strategy and design Experience leading large-scale projects and proven track record of delivering complex software solutions Experience with leading teams and complex projects Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with other leaders and influence outcomes Prior experience in leading teams directly and/or indirectly or similar experience Preferred Qualifications

The actual rate of pay offered within this range may depend on several factors, such as FTE, skills, knowledge, relevant education, experience, and market conditions.
