Job Description
About Us We are a Managed Services Provider (MSP) and Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP) supporting a diverse client base across multiple industries. Our team is responsible for a wide range of system, network, and security tasks, from day-to-day support to large-scale infrastructure projects. Position Overview The Systems Engineer position is primarily responsible for executing infrastructure and technology projects across our client environments. This role focuses on implementing new solutions, performing complex migrations, upgrading existing infrastructure, and serving as the 3rd level technical escalation for challenging support issues. The ideal candidate is comfortable working across servers, virtualization, networking, cloud platforms, and business-critical applications while balancing project work with occasional operational support. Core Responsibilities & Work Focus
- Execute infrastructure projects including server, virtualization, storage, and cloud deployments
- Perform server migrations, operating system upgrades, and application migrations with minimal client downtime
- Execute Microsoft 365 migration projects, including on-premises Exchange, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 tenant, and Microsoft GCC migrations
- Deploy and configure Windows Server, Hyper-V, VMware, SAN storage, and related infrastructure
- Implement and troubleshoot Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, and hybrid identity solutions
- Serve as a Level 3 escalation resource for complex server, application, and infrastructure issues
- Assist the administration team with maintenance of internal systems including patch management, backups, RMM platforms, and ticketing systems
- Provide technical assistance and knowledge sharing to administrators and support technicians.
- Document project implementations, configuration standards, and technical procedures
- Assist with system administration and operational support as workload demands Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure engineering, or a similar technical role
- Strong experience deploying and administering Windows Server environments
- Experience deploying and supporting Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, and hybrid environments
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex infrastructure issues independently
- Strong project planning, organization, and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple implementation projects simultaneously while supporting escalated technical issues
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong documentation habits and attention to detail Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an MSP or MSSP environment
- Experience implementing virtualization platforms including VMware and/or Hyper-V
- Experience performing server, application, and email migrations
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewall administration
- Experience with SAN storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions
- Experience configuring and supporting enterprise firewalls, preferably Fortinet and/or Palo Alto
- Experience with PowerShell or other automation tools
- Experience with PSA, RMM, Microsoft Intune, and other IT management platforms.
- Microsoft, VMware, Fortinet, or other infrastructure-related certifications
- Experience with VoIP solutions and phone systems.
